Okay, to cut a long story short, this is a part of an ad campaign pitch to Puma I was doing in January 2007.
The campaign was supposed to be centered around Puma's classic Suede/Clyde sneakers, hip hop culture (Clydes are considered by many as the first 'fly' sneaker), and New York City (where Clyde helped the Knicks win their first NBA championship in 1970).
It also had to have this back to the roots, DIY kind of vibe, with none of the new school design bells and whistles like brushes/collages/intricate vectors etc.
Unfortunately, the whole thing never came to life, so I'm just publishing it as part of my portfolio now.
And if you didn't guess it yet, the NYC photography is done by the magnificently fantabulous Katie aka *rakastajatar Go show her some love NOW
The Clyde ads seem probably the simplest of all 3 series, but this simple, marker doodle and quick sprayed throwdown style was actually so damn hard to pull off in digital media. Took a lot of time making it look legit .
Also, as you can see, each pic in the Clyde series is based on a lyric from some rap classic.
This one is based on a line from Can You Feel It? by my favorites, Fat Boys .
